First trip to Ukraine in 2025

Dear friends of Ukraine please read and share this report on your Facebook pages. Thank you!

Not since the days of the Roman Emperors has the Lord’s church endured hardships as severe as those now afflicting Christians across Ukraine. Our brethren have been killed, wounded, lost homes, lost church buildings, lost jobs, and lost life-savings—but they have not lost their faith!

We weren't around during Nero's assault on the church...but we are here during Putin's assault...and there is much we can and should do in support of those under siege.

Because of God’s grace, your prayers and your generosity, we are seeking to seize a generational opportunity to overcome evil with good across Ukraine. Thank you for your heart for the good people of Ukraine! Because of you—physical lives and eternal souls are being saved.

I’m happy to report that despite significant challenges, the Book of Acts is happening across Ukraine, including about 600 baptisms in the last 3 years (unprecedented numbers for a European nation).

Highlights of the work you sacrificially and prayerfully support:

1. I have been blessed to recently conclude a three week trip across Ukraine, visiting 15 different cities, and brethren from at least 25 different congregations. For those new to our work in Ukraine, this is approximately my 100th visit to Ukraine since 1993, including 8 visits since the full-scale invasion.

Objectives of this trip:

-To build unity among congregations across Ukraine, as we realize the task before us is so big we need God and we need His people to work together. It was also important to visit many of our friends in frontline locations such as Sumy, Slavyansk, Nikopol, and Kharkiv, including checking on courageous Christians who are serving in the military.

-To visit multiple places where children have been murdered to draw more attention to the plight of children and their grieving families. Teddy bears from our “Remember the Children” event at the Washington Monument were placed at various memorial sites across Ukraine. A meeting with President Zelensky, that was being set up by our friend, Oksana Markarova, the amazing Ukrainian Ambassador, regrettably failed to materialize. Hopefully next time…she has promised to keep trying.

-To distribute supplies to orphanages in and around Kyiv. Special thanks to all who gave for this… A container we helped load is presently in route with more supplies.

-To meet with the many Ukrainian preachers that we support and to visit 4 worship/refugee relief/outreach facilities we rent or have helped purchase. We now fully or partially support 10 Ukrainian preachers, plus frequently provide funds for heat, fuel, food, benevolence, refugee relief, transportation, and medical needs across Ukraine.

-To make plans for our 23 annual “Camp Amerikraine,” the largest annual gathering of Christians in Europe.

2. “Rescue Ukraine,” under the oversight of the Tuscumbia Church of Christ, has printed and now distributed 5,000 “one of a kind” Bibles to churches and individuals across Ukraine. These Bibles are unique because they have been translated from the original languages into Ukrainian by a world renown Ukrainian Bible scholar, they have been printed in Ukraine, the cover tells the receiver of the Bible that it is being given by the Church of Christ (the church we read about inside the Bible) and a special page has been included that shares with the reader, God’s plan for saving souls through Jesus. Plus information is included about our website RescueUkraine.com and information about an online Bible school where readers can more fully develop their faith.

During my most recent trip I was honored to assist with delivering these new Bibles and can happily report that they are being very well received and are already being utilized as effective tools for evangelism. We also delivered special “seed packets” which help plant the seed of the gospel into receptive hearts.

3. We are nearing the completion of translating the first ever Study Bible into the Ukrainian language. Special thanks to our friends at Apologetics Press with a major assist with this much-needed project.

4. We are now in the active planning stage for “Camp Amerikraine,” a faith-fortifying, unity-building family reunion of Christians and future Christians from across Ukraine. The cost per camper is about 200 dollars…so your help is needed as we expect approximately 400 participants.

5. We provide safe shelter for refugees in Western Ukraine and Europe, including two big houses in Lviv, Ukraine and Warsaw, Poland—which together house 60 souls.

6. We are also involved in the care and assimilation of 20 Ukrainian refugees in America who reside in our local community and are active members of the Tuscumbia Church of Christ. Additionally we assist in stateside retreats for Ukrainian refugees from across America.

God-willing, this war will soon end and we will have unprecedented opportunities to plant, rebuild, and strengthen churches across Ukraine. What we’re doing now is laying the foundation for what will hopefully be even more productive work in the future.

Again, thank you! Only in eternity will it be known all the good you did for Ukraine.
